About the Author

Hello, and welcome to my little hobby blog. I love to write and have recently developed a love for crafting. The idea to create “Pin-spire Me” came from a pin board I created called, “Pin-spired”. It has since changed names and now I just love to be pin-spired. The board was a small collection of recipes and crafts I attempted thanks to inspiration from Pinterest. I have many other interests, though!

My personal blog, peaches, peacocks, & pearls; (yes, it’s a lengthy name, I know), is a place where I share life stories and my personal thoughts. The name of the blog comes from three of my favorite things and its an expression of my absolute, utter happiness with where I am in my life right now. I am blessed beyond belief. I also write some more professional articles over at Hubpages, and I have a blog with my college, Penn State. Again, let me reiterate that I love to write!

The highlight of my life currently is attending college. I am a political science major seeking a bachelor of arts at Penn State through their World Campus program. This was my college of choice out of high school in 2004, but I did not get to attend then. I am so thankful that I can receive the same education while still living in Austin! I hope to receive a double minor in Energy Business & Finance and Middle Eastern studies with a focus on food policy. A goal I have right now is to get into a study abroad program in Cairo, Egypt. This is one of many goals; I have a 10-year education plan and love school. I am a self-professed nerd. 😉

In my free time I volunteer with the Oxfam American Austin Action Corps. I am an advocate for sustainable food policies in the United States as well as globally. I am also interested in sustainable farming practices, urban farming, and organic practices. This fall semester I am taking an introduction to soil science course and am very excited for the information I can apply to urban food growth!

Other than that, I am an aunt to a sweet, 2-year-old nephew. He is the light of my life and the happiest kid I know. The little guy has changed my life and I can say that I wouldn’t be where I am today without him. I have a wonderful sister and two brothers, a loving mother and stepdad, and the craziest extended family you can imagine. I love rock music (Ryan Adams is my favorite musician), comedies, and planning trips and other ideas with my best friends on Pinterest. I live a wonderful life.
